The Urban Filmmaker

About Me

My name is Jeff and I am a nineteen year-old independent filmmaker from Tacoma, Washington. I just recently finished my first year at Washington State University, where I also worked as a columnist, reporter and film critic for The Daily Evergreen.

During my time at the Evergreen, I gave As to Lisa Cholodenko’s The Kids Are All Right and Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life and Fs to train-wrecks Red Riding Hood and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

I am transferring to another university this year to pursue a degree in film and video studies with a concentration in film production.

Some of my favorite films include Network, Requiem for a Dream, Schindler’s List, The Tree of Life, Rosemary’s Baby, WALL-E, Slumdog Millionaire, The Exorcist, The Deer Hunter, Election, Doubt, The Kids Are All Right, The Battle of Algiers, Amadeus, Alien, Black Swan and An Education. Funnily enough, most of these actually appear in ‘1001 Movies.’

I hope you’ll have a good time reading my blog. If you have any questions or comments along the way, feel free to let me know! I’d love feedback, maybe even your own thoughts on the films I discuss. Of course, my thoughts on these films wont be as long as a full-fledged review column. But hopefully, it will be rewarding just the same.
